PBLA Protocols
About Me Section
All items under the About Me section are required for all levels, they could be done towards the end of the session for Foundation L classes.

Needs Assessment: some options are to do a retro needs assessment, to cut and paste pictures of themes covered throughout the session, to do a wall display in the classroom and take a picture of it, etc. It should be revisiting throughout the session.

Autobiography (optional): use pictorial autobiographies when appropriate.

CLB Levels: try a graphic representation to show progress in the program and/or progress from the start of the class until the end.

Goal Statement(s): some options are to use students from other classes to translate a conversation, interpreters or any other translating service. Another option is a set of pictures related to language skills and what students “can” or “want to” do. It should be revisiting throughout the session.

Optional items: diagnostic activities, initial language samples, skills self-assessment, etc.

Learning Reflections and Self -Assessments: whenever possible ​
Skill Sections (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing)
Include skill using activities, also known as practice assessments, and assessment tasks. Each section should have a minimum of four assessment tasks, one per each competency as described in the CLB Document.
PBLA Inventories
An inventory precedes each skill area, including the About Me section. An inventory includes, title of task, date task completed, CLB level of task, and competency(ies) that the task addresses; self/peer assessment (when used) are identified as such.
